CHRISTMAS CAKES

Christmas morning while I waited for The Husband to wake up (and it was a long wait, as he rousted himself around noon, making it a very Tadd and Caitlyn-esque morning/afternoon), I made and decorated Christmas-like-ish-y cupcakes. And here you’re privileged to view the process and the fruits of my labors. (Though, admittedly, it wasn’t much like labor; I had myself a splendid time.)

Naturally, I deem the eating part pleasurable, but it’s the sprucing that spurs me to turn out treats like these. I wanted each tiny cake to be unique, so some cupcakes have toffee tucked inside the batter, some have chocolate chips, and some are plain French vanilla. And for added distinction, the pink frosting is flavored peppermint, the yellow is lemon, and the white, well, the white is vanilla, duh.

I was utterly entertained making and decorating these pleasure-treasure-gems, and I timed the whole mess just right, for as I finished cleaning up, The Husband stumbled downstairs for breakfast (thus inadvertently, with his Christmas waffles and cocoa, I fed the husband cupcakes for breakfast/lunch before we went off to witness Charlie Wilson’s War).

WOW - Martha Stewart couldn't have done it any better. My only complaint is that you were not here making them!
