When it comes to my aversion to the outdoors in general, the cat’s out of the bag. However, I should be more fun than I am, so when I learned that the madre was organizing a sledding expedition on the nearby golf course, I opted to suit up. I appropriated Lauren’s hot pink snow boarding pants, filched someone’s banana-hued ski jacket, put on a few pairs of my dad’s socks, slid on a pair of Wellies, noosed my hand-made scarf around my neck, double-gloved, and Velcro-ed a fleecy headband around my ears. Suitably clad, I journeyed with Mom, cousins Chad and Janeen, and their three kids, Briggs (9), Olivia (5), and Emily (2) to the 8th hole for some sliding, sledding, tumbling and biffing.
Since I’ve such a distaste for the snow and haven’t been shy about telling everyone I know, if I didn’t post proof of my outdoor adventure, I’m not quite sure anyone would believe my claims of recreation al fresco.
Because the alluring part of sledding is the down, mom used her 4-wheeler to help us negate the exertion of the up. We tied a rope to a sled and to the front of her quad so that after we rode the slope down, we could settle on our bellies for her to back up her vehicle, hoisting us up the hill.
Mom and her hauling vehicle:
I'm ready for my maiden haul up the hill: one hand on the rope that will pull me up the hill and one on the sled I rode down the hill in the first place.
Thanks to Neen for taking the proof-providing photos. For more photos of this day, visit her blog too.

Wow thats amazing. Serious.
I love those pictures. I especially like the first one. You look more like our mother than any of us.
I THINK IF YOU WON'T ALLOW COMMENTS ON YOUR OWN BLOG, YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMMENT ON ANYONE ELSE'S.
Can anyone agree with me?
I am truly shocked you went outside to play in the snow! I had to inspect the pictures to make sure it was really you. Where are your stiletto snowboots?
I love to hear what Whitney has to say, however I am very put out that she doesn't want to hear what we have to say. It hurts my heart.
thats awesome I am impressed! That looks like so much fun infact I think I want to go sledding now...
