CINCO ANOS

The girl was 20. The boy was 26. The girl was young. The boy must have been stupid. Who wants to marry a chick, dry her behind her ears, and finish raising her? The boy must’ve, because five years ago that’s just what he did. How did said girl and boy celebrate the anniversary of their nuptials? Apart, of course, as is they way of things in this life. Their wood-gift anniversary coincided with girl’s organization’s national meeting; so for the anniversary, girl was in Florida and boy was at home in Reno. Romantic and memorable.

Five years of putting up with girl’s freakish eating habits and of enduring the gastrointestinal aromas boys seem to have a knack for. Seven different homes, from Hawaii to Kansas to Las Vegas to Sparks (courtesy of girl’s employer’s whim). Girl and boy ought to consider settling. (The plan was settling in Las Vegas until girl’s job took them to, of all places, the Reno area.) Made an effort with an German Shepherd. Found success with a Yorkie. Been through eleven cars and a motorcycle. Jobs boy liked; jobs he didn’t like and a stopping point with self-employment (which could insinuate that boy just stays home playing Xbox; if only such were the case and boy wasn’t breathing and bleeding LeapCard). Jobs girl liked; jobs she didn’t like and a stopping point with the perfect employer. A few nieces and nephews and, by Heaven’s grace, no kids of their own.

Belated as it may be, boy and girl ought to celebrate those five years, eh?

Megan! This is Meri (Marshall) Simpson. Don't you just love this blogging thing? Here we are, haven't seen or spoken to each other in (heaven knows, it been almost 8 years!) a long time, and one day I am browsing my good pal Lynley's blog and happen too stumble onto your blog! And you look so fantastic! Yoga does the body good apparently. I need to get to It's Yoga here in Utah, instead of my stupid treadmill. Anywho, just wanted to say hello. Things look well for you, and as always, I got the biggest kick out of reading your blog and seeing your tremendous vocabulary in action once again.
