I'M A MAC AND I'M ALMOST 27

When ensconced in the various Marriotts my company chooses for me, I watch the Food Network. Or rather, I substitute it for my usual iTunes while computing. So I listen and glance up if Duff's latest creation sounds especially audacious. (You made Hogwarts? Without magic? What? Well, I'd say you certainly aced that cake.) That and I can't help but get sucked into Alton's scientific explanations of why chickpeas taste best after midnight.

And then there are the commercials.

One commercial is especially great. You know the one: the cute little Asian girl takes a photo of her fish and then emails it to her parents. (Where are said parents, by the way? They're not concerned about peanut butter and jelly on their PC's keyboard?) She does a lovely job uploading, brightening and then attaching the photo to an email. I'm especially impressed that she can read the correct group to email to. (Leave it to the little Asian kid to nuke the curve, right?)

So at the end of the ad, playing off of and trying to one-up the Apple I'm a Mac commercials, she says I'm a PC and I'm 4 1/2 years old . . .

But if they'd let the camera continue rolling, the commercial would have ended up saying, I'm a PC and I'm 4 1/2 years old, which means that I'm too young to purchase my own computer, but if I could, you'd better believe it would be some sweet Apple machine not this Windows-boasting piece of crap my parents got on sale at Costco.

AMEN! We've always been Mac users. We just got a new iMac for Christmas and our kids can't stay off of it. Does the PC world know how fun a computer can really be? My kids love Photo Booth.

I think my husband married me because my maiden name is Mackintosh. Spelled differently but close enough for him.

Sorry that last comment was actually from me. See, my kids can't stay off of the computer...that's why my daughter was signed in. I need to remember to check. Sorry!

that commercial made me laugh so much, and I had the same peanut butter thought! I frequently tell my husband, "I'm a PC...I'm afraid of change." I've been learning a MAC at work and I may soon be a convert!

I understand personal preference and all but one thing leaves me puzzled....why are Apple people so defensive? This is such a polar sides topic. I mean sometimes I feel bad that I actually don't want to pick a side in the debate....nah...I never try to think that deeply. Enjoyed the post!

Shewinn8, I must clarify, for truly, this is something I'm passionate about. In our case (mine and that of The Husband), it's not defensiveness at all, but more of an offensive approach. We are Macsionaries, spreading the true word of Apple.

Ever have something that makes you so happy, you wonder how you ever lived without it? No, I'm not talking about a spouse, but a Mac. I want everyone to experience that same immeasurable joy of a computer that actually does what you want it to. I spend so much time with my machine that it either influences or interferes with my life. I'd be most happy if it enhanced it. And my Mac does. It truly does.

Amen.
