ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENOSCOPY

In regard to Cat and Aunt Sue's question on the last post:

The long Word to Love to Say, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, also called an EGD or an Upper GI, is "an examination of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum in which a thin flexible tube is placed down the throat. Before the EGD procedure, an anesthetic spray is used to numb the back of the throat, and sedation is given for the 15-minute exam." (Definition courtesy of WebMD.)

It's a word I've encountered in my job, and when I first stumbled upon and over it, I found it too interesting, unique and polysyllabic to forget.
