REINSTATED DRIVER

I road trip more than anyone else I know. Two hours to Sacramento to visit family. Eight hours to Elk Ridge to visit family. Seven hours to Vegas for miscellaneous people and activities. On repeat. I put 30,000 miles on my car last year between driving for work and driving to Utah to have Caitlyn do my hair every six weeks (plus all the other stuff). I wouldn't be able do all the road tripping I do without the aid of audio books. The Reno to Vegas to Reno trip is barely a blink of an eye with Gabriel Allon, Robert Langdon, and Harry Potter to keep me company.

I sometimes bring the spouse on my little jaunts, and my most recent excusion to Elk Ridge was one of those together-trips. As the trip was spontaneous and my idea, I graciously drove the whole way there, and I kinda figured that The Husband would find great kindness in his heart and volunteer to do the driving back. Yeah, it didn’t really work out that way. He volunteered to do the “first leg.” That leg ended after three and a half hours, and then he became what you see here: a snoring lump with the companionship of our teeny rat dog.

I was to his left belting my best with the Barenaked Ladies, U2, and Dave Matthews tunes courtesy of my iPod—the friend that doesn’t fall asleep.
